Anyone visited the new Ang Mo Kio Hub by NTUC? I know of friends who absolutely mistrust the organisation and try their darnest to not use any of their services. However, I think this is intrinsically hard because of the reach they have in Singapore. NTUC is everywhere. You have NTUC Fairprice as the main supermarket. NTUC comfort as the main cab service. NTUC Income/Insurance as the erm…main insurance. NTUC healthcare. NTUC amusement centres. NTUC involved in golf. NTUC childcare..NTUC elder care. NTUC also has pubs and night spots..NTUC as THE union… You get the picture.

The shopping centre looked a bit functional to me. It has mostly grey walls and hard concrete. Maybe NTUC needs a bit of time to get the hang of running a mall.

Stopped at New York New York for a bite. This was like a Jack’s Place or Hans with a fancy “Americanised” name. It seemed to work as it was pulling the crowd…

We went for the Hot “Virgin” Mary Soup (S$4.90) or tomato soup, the Fiery Buffalo Wings (S$6.90) and the Big Big Breakfast (S$10.90).

The soup was quicky chucky with tomato puree stuff. Not that bad. The Wings were battered and fried quick competently. There was some zing in the spice added. The blue cheese dip was a nice touch.

The big breakfast consisted of sausages, bacon (mmmmhh…yum), tomato, beans, mushrooms, pancakes, 2 eggs done sunny side up, maple syrup and a slab of butter. It warms our hearts to have a place serve all day breakfast..heh.
