Modesto’s
Address: 1 Harbourfront Walk #01-207 VivoCity, Singapore
This post is more on the atmosphere and feel of eating rather that a review of a restaurant. The occasion was Christmas 2006. Venue was Modesto’s at Vivocity. Although I was dining with colleagues, it was actually a gathering of friends.

A constant stream of food was presented. Plates after plates of italian fare filled up the whole long table. Friends and their family tucking into the pizzas, carbonara, spaghetti, calarmari, soup…

I can understand why the Italian have such a strong family kinship. It is the food that binds…the interaction at the dining table…the putting aside of time for the family that translates into intimate relationships formed.

The saying goes that we should eat to live and not live to eat. I have some thoughts on this. Essentially, when we dissect the purpose of life..it is to procreate and ensure the continuance of our bloodline. And predominately, every activity we do is geared towards putting food on the table in order that our primary objective of procreation is achieved. Thus saying…it would not be wrong to say that we live to eat..heh.

So. Enjoy your meals. It is truly a bliss to dine with friends and family.
