This really is a belated entry. About two months back, I had dinner with some of my colleagues. I like this bunch of people and, sometimes, I think that it is quite a shame that the job just burns people out. People that I like keep leaving or simply become increasingly unhappy and dissatisfied. I also suspect and fear that people who flourish in the job will simply become increasingly dislikeable.
Nonetheless, happily, we are still at the stage where we are fairly junior and office politics has yet to intrude to sour the friendship.
One of my colleages (let’s call her Evie) suggested that we eat at her regular hangout in Chun Tin (she lives in the area and da paos home frequently).
I was impressed, when upon arrival at the eating house, we found that the owner had reserved a prime parking spot immediately outside it for Evie. I was also impressed by the prompt and welcoming service given to her. Clearly, this was her territory.

On Evie’s recommendation, we had the steamboat with fish slices and the beancurd with pacific clams. We also had the honey chicken, the thai-styled prawns and the sambal kangkong.
The fish slices were very fresh and sweet and the steamboat style of cooking it aided the convivial atmosphere.


The beancurd with pacific clams was excellent, as was the honey chicken. In particular, even now (after a period of two months), I remember the melt-in-your-mouth smoothness of the beancurd and the delicious starchy gravy in which it came. I also remember the tender chicken slices complemented by the sweet honey and the bits of fried skin.


The kangkong also did not disappoint.

The only fairly forgettable (although not disagreeable) dish was the thai-styled prawns. However, this could be because I am simply not a big fan of the distinctive lemon-grass taste that thai-styled seafood has.

So, anyway, to my dear colleagues/friends - thanks for the support and friendship, babes and hunks!
