I went back to the CaffeBar to sample more of their dishes during lunch.

To facilitate you readers in finding the place, CaffeBar is located right in the middle of a bunch of shops selling fashion accessories and clothing. It could be an intentional strategy on the part of the shopping centre planners to meld the twin loves of females everywhere - shopping and food (sorry guys..don’t think they view carnal enjoyment with much importance) or just a lame excuse to squeeze more money out of every available tenant space.
We had the Wild Mushroom Bruschetta (S$5.50) and our usual of the executive set (S$12.80)- Spaghetti Carbonara, English Breakfast Tea and Soup of the day which was Tomato Soup.

The Wild Mushroom Bruschetta is bread toasted, drenched in olive oil and supplemented with the wild mushrooms. Simple and elegant. The raw ingredients of mushrooms carried this dish.

There was some white sauce on the Tomato Soup. I gingerly asked my dining partner what the white sauce was and was soundly berated for being ignorant. The white sauce is sour cream by the way. The Tomato Soup was good. However, the ciabatta was one of the worst and driest I have ever had the misfortune of having. Your Gardenia or Sunshine loaf would have made a better replacement.
On a side note, since young, I was the only one in my family to take to tomato - tomato sauce, tomato on pizza (back when it was still a novelty) and tomato soup. My family virtually ostrasized me for choosing tomato over their favourite of chilli. My parents would always declare to any relatives or friends in earshot that their son does not take chilli - gasps of amazement would be heard, followed by some finger-pointing. I have by now taken to chilli. But I feel mildly vindicated that tomato has gained some acceptance in Singapore. Take that!! Pa Ma!!!

The Spaghetti Carbonara was a delicious creamy course of the pasta, coated with an egg mixture. Bacon slices are de rigeur with the dish. CaffeBar’s would not win first prize at any cooking competition but it is acceptable to us.
